Should He Get His Daughter Her Own Car Insurance Policy?
Jul 14, 2008 by Maureen S | Posted in Insurance & Registration
My fellow-countryman-in-law just bought his 17 year old daughter a used car. His insurance company is pushing him to get her her own management. It is about $100 more a year. They claim that this way when she turns 18,if she gets into an disaster, it will not effect his rates. Is this a good idea? Or should he just add her to his policy?
Also, the line is in his and his wife's name. If his daughter gets into an accident, can they touch his home?
you should go to http://fsturl.com/BC and if you jot down your information into the form, they'll give you a quote from different companies and you can compare the distinctive prices for different services. it saves you a looooot of time.
My Daughter Was In A Multi Vehicle Car Accident And I Cant Seem To Find An Estimate For Car Insurance?

It was a 2001 hyundai elantra.
My insurance was 9 foremost.
My daughter just turned 21 and wasen't given permission to get-up-and-go the car.
Your employment is unclear on a couple of things...so I am assuming by your post that a) the car was yours and b)your daughter was responsible for the misadventure. The fact that she didn't have permission means nothing; unless you want to assign your daughter with stealing your car, which I doubt, then that won't cut any ice with an insurer.
There are insurance companies that will cover high-danger situations like yours, but I can tell you that they will want you to sign off on a document where you categorically situation that your daughter will never drive the car, period, and if she does, they can cancel the policy or refuse any and all claims. And be ready-made to pay higher rates, at least for a while, until you have been claim free for a given period of on occasion (I would think a year or so minimum). The insurer will explain their policies on this.
Try searching the internet...there are drugged risk companies like Safe Auto, etc. who might give you some minimal coverage if nothing else...and there are sites where you can get multiple quotes from heterogeneous companies.

My 18 year old daughter absolutely got her drivers liscense (how i do not know) She has had it for four days. Last night I let her drive before I put her on my car insurance. She hit a car . I wanted to pay the guy out of my own snitch but it looks to be $4000 in damage. Im pissed .
Most disposed to: no.
See with your insurance company. If she is not, the other driver's insurance company will sue your daughter for the damages.
For my company, I can lend the car to anyone and still be covered, EXCEPT for anyone living at the same hail.

My daughter has been on a permit and in sept gets her permit, is it law that i have to have her added to my insurance.
Most insurance companies make that all licensed drivers in the household be listed on the policy. The only way to avoid that, is to get her a ways in her own name.
Here's the reason.....insurance companies are not as dumb as people like to improvise. You're not the first person to not want to list someone on the car because the rates will go up. However, since the high risk driver is not listed on the design, the insurance company is not collecting the proper amount of premium for the risk. Supererogatory to say, this is a practice we like to discourage.
So, we have.
In your policy there is language that says that if the instrument is provided for her regular use and she gets in a wreck, the insurance company can deny coverage. That means....they don't pay for anything! You become herself responsible for any and all damage/injuries your daughter causes. You are considered "uninsured" and there is a well-thought-of chance of getting sued by the person your daughter injured/damaged quirk.
The insurance companies put this clause in....to prevent what you are wanting to do....which is to earmark your daughter to drive your car but not pay the increased insurance rate.
So, what do you do.
You tell your daughter now that she has her drivers license, she gets a job. She has to pay you X dollars to balm off set the increased cost of insurance. If she does not pay the money by the due date......she does not pilot your car. (great way to teach her to pay bills on time). If she gets a ticket or has a demolition - she will have to pay the premium increase.
By making your daughter responsible for insurance premium and the consequences of any bad/foolhardy driving she does .....you increase the chance that she will be more careful behind the spin. It certainly kept me from speeding as a teen. I did not get my first speeding ticket until I was 34. And speeding is not the only attitude to worry about....do you know how many wrecks happen because teens passage while driving?
You can use this as a great opportunity to teach your daughter responsibility.

Daughter Taking Mother's Car To Texas But Not On Title Or Insurance ?

Hi, I would like to get my 20 year old daughter covered under her grandmother's car insurance who lives in Ohio but daughter is neighbourhood of New York. My daughter will be in Houston for 4 months and needs transportation for internship. What might be the worst way to handle coverage and what type of laws exist in Texas, i.e. no in the extreme?
Lofty question.
Texas is a no fault state. The best option is to get a central liability policy and add uninsured and under-insured motorist. In Texas it is estimated 32% of vehicles have NO insurance coverage. (YIKES)
For 4 months of coverage it should charge $149. Not a lot of money for the piece of mind and protection you will get.
Hope this helps. Telephone my source below. They are in Texas
